Recaps & the Hospitals
At this stage of the coverage, most of the information being presented were recaps from earlier in the day. Little, if any, additional news was breaking at this time.
One item of interest in this segment comes from the report by Cynthia McFadden regarding the hospitals and efforts to coordinate treatment. While other networks had commented on the fact earlier in the evening, the horrible truth was that the massive volumes of wounded many were expecting never arrived at various locations throughout the city. To my recollection there were less than 2,000 injured as a result of the New York City attacks. Most people either escaped the collapsing buildings - or were dead. In reality it would become apparent that far more died than were merely injured in the WTC attacks.
